Focus on Starty Media

Starty media is a web agency with a focus on SEO. When we started offering SEO services to clients, we had to build up a team of SEO and content managers, as well as developers. Over time, we began to create our own sites and monetize them.

We still continue our SEO activity, but a large part of our sales now come from site publishing. So we’ve gone from creating cold content for SEO purposes, to producing hot content (news, current affairs) with a very steady rate of publication on our sites.

What objectives do you use Adrenalead’s Web Push Notification for?

4 or 5 years ago, we discovered the power of traffic from Google Discover, which presented itself as a new acquisition channel for us. But this traffic wasn’t necessarily ready to convert, as web users who intentionally type in a search would be. And so we weren’t monetizing this traffic; in fact, we started launching display campaigns with AdSense.

Then we turned our attention to other monetization solutions; Adrenalead had just launched its Web Push Notification platform. So, in July 2021, we started using Notifadz on our first site…

Today, we have around ten sites, a good number of which are connected to Notifadz, and we use Web Push to :

  • Recirculate, i.e. bring in traffic as soon as we publish an article. This ensures that we have a certain number of visitors.
  • Monetize via display: as our articles are monetized via display, having a visitor return to one of our sites allows us to re-display the display.
  • Monetize via push notification format.

What do you like about the solution?

For two or three months, we tested a competing solution, but we came back to Notifadz, because at the time the competitor didn’t have an API.

As I said earlier, we have a dual objective with our sites:

  • The first is monetization.
  • The second is to get returning traffic, as this improves the site’s results, boosts the site’s image in Google’s eyes, and leads to better performance on Google Discover.

So, as soon as we publish an article, we need to send a notification right away. With several dozen sites, creating a notification for each article was too tedious. So I developed a plugin (Editor’s note: Adrenalead now has a dedicated plugin): my content managers create their content on the site, and check or uncheck a box to send the notification. When the box is checked, it automatically retrieves the article’s front-page image and title, creates the notification and sends it to Notifadz within five minutes of the article’s publication.

So I needed a service provider with an API, which is why we came back to Adrenalead.

So I’d say I’m enjoying :

  • the API, so I can send my pushes automatically
  • The fact that the monetization part is entirely outsourced to Adrenalead
  • The free tool for sending our editorial pushes (with a rev share on the monetization part)

In terms of performance, does the proposed solution meet the expectations of the Starty teams?

Yes, completely: the monetization via push notifications enables me to generate additional revenue, alongside the free tool for sending our editorial notifications, which enables us to generate recurring traffic and thus boost revenue from display.

In concrete terms, how do you use Adrenalead Web Push?

Apart from sending our articles automatically, I’m sharing with you a huge tip that few publishers know about: sending cross-site notifications, a feature that isn’t possible with all Web Push providers.

We regularly create new sites; we have our methods for performing on Google Discover, but it’s still a black box that’s hard to master. But the important thing is to generate traffic, to show Google that the site is alive. And when we put a new site online, before getting traffic and showing Google that the site is attractive, we have only a few solutions: emailing, social networks and push notification.

So what’s important is to have a large enough base of optins to be able, as soon as we launch a new site, to send visitors to it and show Google that there are users visiting it, reading articles, that there’s retention.

And it’s a great idea to use the bases of your other sites…

Would you recommend Adrenalead solutions to your peers? What advice would you give a new publisher to get the most out of the solution?

Yes, and I’ve done it several times. The advice is really the cross-sites we just mentioned.

How would you sum up your collaboration with Adrenalead?

Automation : with the plugin, everything is done automatically. I no longer have to worry about creating editorial push campaigns; my articles are automatically pushed.
